Scott A. Matison

Scott Matison is an experienced family attorney practicing in the Philadelphia region and South Jersey. He handles divorce, custody, support, alimony, abuse, adoption, prenuptial agreements, and name change cases.

With nearly two decades of legal experience, Scott provides practical counsel to his clients. During the intake process, he takes time to understand a client’s situation and needs, and he gives straightforward advice that is grounded in finding pragmatic and creative solutions. He understands the emotional difficulties in family matters, and guides clients with clarity, providing a steady hand and forthright advice to help them navigate challenging times with confidence. 

Scott is a strong negotiator who finds ways to settle disputes efficiently. At the same time, he is a forceful litigator with a proven track record of success resolving contentious cases. His trial experience includes successfully arguing before the Pennsylvania Superior Court.

Licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Scott practices in Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, and Bucks County, Pennsylvania and in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Cape May County, New Jersey. He stands out in the region for the breadth of his practice and deep familiarity of the legal landscapes of these jurisdictions.

Scott currently serves as the President for the Doris Jonas Freed American Inn of Court. He previously served as the co-chair of the Equitable Distribution and Alimony Committee in the Montgomery County Bar Association where he drafted changes to local court rules and planned programs on developments in equitable distribution and alimony matters.

In 2025, Scott was named to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list, which recognizes the top 5% of attorneys in the state. He was named to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list each year between 2017-2022. See here for the Super Lawyers selection process.
